This is the debut release from the pianist and songwriter Stuart Robertson. The Furthest Shelter is a mellow and laid-back affair, both beautifully written and performed.

The Furthest Shelter commences with the incredibly catchy and toe-tapping Uniforms, with little time wasted before the full jazz aspect comes shining through. By the second track, Reveal, things become a more mellow affair. This mellow trend continues up to the seventh track, Speedos, where that powerful, jazzy feel returns in full force. Although special mention should be given to Yakutsk, which is a very magical track, conjuring up images of delicate aspects of life, and really makes you cast your mind back to times with no cares in the world. There is no doubt Stuart Robertson is a gifted musician, his use of instruments, the production of the album - the way his fuses the sounds together, is excellent.

I've already mentioned the talent of the artist, but I also believe that Prime Sound, the record label (with this release being their first), appear to have the right philosophy - keeping the scene small, focusing on artists who can excel and be developed in their field, which I think Stuart Robertson will do.

To summarise, I feel this album, the 'story' aspect if you like, the journey from the beginning to its end, is a collection of great tracks.
